An Abb Wa Binto “of father and daughter” is a story of the reality of Palestinian parents who have been living the genocide in Gaza for over a 100 days. It’s about a father who has lost all his children but his one daughter. The father narrates his brutal reality in the first part of the song and in the second part he is trying to put his daughter to bed under heavy bombardment telling her:

“Sleep, little one
To light this night a candle and fly 
To tell secrets in the soul of a dream
In a world of the free, we remain”

صار الحلم كابوس اكحل عتيم ميئوس
صرنا عبيد صارو الآله كلها وحوش
An abb wa binto
Of father and daughter:
The dream became a nightmare, pitch black, dark and hopeless
We’ve become slaves, the Gods have all become beasts

معقول يزول هالليل يفنى ويبيد هالويل
نحلم ونقول يا ريت يفيق هالسبات

Will this night pass, vanish and terminate this misery
We dream and shout our wishes for this dormancy to wake

لون الرماد في قلوبنا طعم الصدا في عروقنا
نسكر ونموت نحيا عالجوع نروي عدموع

The color of ash in our hearts, the taste of rust in our veins
